Thinking about holidays with family and You don’t want to stay a hotels but feel free and for free…You can in Australia,New Zealand or USA.
I just started planing holiday in Australia and found transfercar which I read before. Generally it website which allow You rent for free car with catch, You must transfer car from one city to another. What about 2000km across east Australia coastline in 13 days….Yes it adventurous and can be life time trip.
Allow You to book a car for almost free, You have to pay insurance but if You have Amex Platnium card, when You have already insurance. If You stack in Sydney and have to go to Melbourne last minute it can be costly without miles, but now You can drive there, good for families as well because you can visit on the way some tourists spots. You also had to pay deposit and if You cancel you had to pay some compensation for no show.
Sometimes you have even free petrol, toll and some expenses covered by rental company. But generally its for last minute adventures, because You can book car up to one month ahead. So if You are flexible this is very good offer, I wonder how my family will react for this….
Thanks for flyertalk forum, I found out this amazing deal. You can Fly ANA First Class for 60000 Aegean Miles. You can find it only on this routing working both ways LAX-HND-LHR-FRA. It’s 2 flights over 12 hours, business class is 45000 Miles, economy 30000 Miles.
If You start in London You have to pay ADP tax so it’s more expensive (Taxes for economy is 385 Euro).
You can also find Asiana First class on routing FRA-ICN-LAX.
Aegean Miles+Bonus is my main star alliance program, because its easy to get Gold card with them and keep it. You can buy up to 50000 Miles with them per membership year, sometime they have also bonus 40-50%, but last November they had 100% bonus, so You could buy 60000 Miles for only 750 Euro and with taxes in theory is possible to book this deal under 1000 Euro.
Aegean Miles+Bonus allow search redemption only if You have enough milers in Your account.
You can transfer Avios between British Airways and Iberia. Note, Combine My Avios does not apply to Household accounts. In near future. If You want transfer to Iberia Plus account, your account must be 3 months old and have earned at least 1 Avios point. You can transfer points from American Express Membership Rewards, credit a flight or hotel stay, or make purchase via ibplusstore for example groupon.es purchases earn 5 Avios points per 1 Euro (till 31 March 2019 is 13 Avios per euro https://ibplustore.iberia.com/en/entertainment-and-leisure/groupon-es
You can earn British Airways Executive Club points by (every week I will cover one way of getting points so this list will be bigger post and with links to my other posts):
British Airways flights or any one world alliance flights, plus Alaska Airlines and Aer Lingus – you should check www.wheretocredit.com to know how many points you can earn
transfer from American Express Membership Rewards, Tesco Club Card, Heathrow Rewards
taking a credit card (BA American Express blue or Premium)
shopping online at www.shopping.ba.com (check their special offers for extra points)
How many Avios points I need for a flight?
4000 points You can book one-way off peak economy flight from London to Zone 1 (Amsterdam,Berlin….) plus 17.50 GBP taxes, perfect If you need flight today then flight cost can be in 326GBP (flight to Berlin BA980) and the same flight is possible to book using Avios.
Flights from London to Europe have very law taxes using miles just 17.50 oneway for Economy or 25GBP for business. If You consider flights outside Europe You will have pay big taxes on BA redemption sometimes more than price of economy ticket.
Today I’m on mileage run to secure again Aegean Gold card for next year. I need to collect 12000 Tier Miles with 4 flights. I booked LHR-ATH-WAW-ATH-LHR which will take 24 hours to complete and give me 3734 Tier Miles (including Aegean Gold status bonus). Not bad for 120GBP ticket which was hand luggage only but I could check in one bag due my Star Alliance Gold card.
It’s not first time when I doing this run and during last 3 years I notice many improvements at Athens Airport. They are on going refurnishing on main terminal. Athens airport is one building terminal which is divided for zone A gates for non Schengen Area flights south side of building and B gates Schengen Area in north of building.
I arrived from London just before 4 am and cleared emigration very quick, I notice new baby room at baggage claim area good for family to change nappies and rest in friendly room. I exit customs and just take lift one level up to departures area. My flight to Warsaw will be just before 9 at B gates so I had almost 5 hours to try sleep in Lounge.
At B gates You have 4 lounges
Aegean Business Lounge B
Lufthansa Business Lounge
Goldair Handling CIP Lounge B
Skyserv Melina Merkouri Lounge
First two You can access flying if you have flight with Star Alliance airline and have Gold card or business class ticket, last two I could access with priority pass.
At A gates you have 4 lounges:
Aegean Business Lounge A
Swissport Executive Lounge
Goldair Handling Lounge A
Skyserv Aristotle Onassis Lounge
First one You can access flying if you have flight with Star Alliance airline and have Gold card or business class ticket, last two I could access with priority pass.
In my opinion the best lounge for Priority pass holder is Goldair Handling Lounge A. It big and very quit lounge. There You can rest it was only 5 people inside then I went there.
One thing I don’t like at all at ATH airport, You cannot take shower at any lounge. I don’t know why they didn’t fit shower especially that Aegean spent money to refurnishing B gate lounge and build new lounge in A gate zone. Goldair Handling Lounge A is also new lestwhan 2 years old and build from scratch.
Statusmatcher – at this page You can find which airline/hotel/car rental program status could You give status at another program. For example I found out to matching my Aegean Gold Card to LATAM Platinium card (one world) which gave me benefit to visit First Class One World lounges then I had only silver card with BA. I just had to write email and I was lucky what I had one flight with Latam airline in last 12 months.
WhereToCredit is the way to find out where I should credit flights when I fly new airline, sometimes You can get 100% more miles if You do maths, but always be in mind of redemption what You looking for.
Awardwallet – at this site You can check all Your points and miles balances, even You will get notification when some miles will expiry.

I have in wallet 2 cards which is very handy at Plaza Premium Lounges.
First is Priority Pass which I got with Amex Platinium, using this card I can enter any plaza Lounge with 1 guest, as long we travelling at this day. They check boarding pass, but sometimes at Arrival lounge they don’t. Which can be useful when You waiting for somebody.
Second card is American Express Platinum, they have special agreement with Plaza, and again I can enter lounge with it with one guest, extra guest is cost 15GBP for person.
I have success to use both cards at the same time, at HKG I could enter lounge with my partner and 2 kids. They “charged” both Priority pass and Amex Platinum for 2 total guest. Even better I could visit Plaza Premium First Hong Kong lounge which is next door using Arrture Upgrade voucher.
Arrture is an innovative global loyalty programme that promises an exciting range of airport and air travel related rewards and privileges to frequent travellers. As the exclusive loyalty programme for Plaza Premium Group, a pioneer and industry leader that provides four core airport services that include Airport Lounge, Airport Transit Hotel, Airport Meet & Greet Service and Airport Dining. I joined Arrture 2 years ago and every time then I visit plaza lounge I show them card and collect 100 points per visit. During this time I collected 11400 points which I can use for:
1500 points- upgrade Voucher to HKG First Lounge

1800 points- 30-minute Shampoo & Blow Dry at HKG Wellness, level 3 Terminal 2 (opposite to Left Baggage)
I bought my iphone this way and I get extra 12 Avios per GBP because I used BA shopping portal and click link to buy at selfridges when they had promo 12 miles, now its 8 miles and Virgin portal offer 9 miles per pound.
My math was what I got almost 12000 avios just for clicking few links and spend 999GBP which I had to spend, this is enough for return reward flight to Milan I used my Amex Platinium card to get extra Amex rewards points and up to 3 moths free purchase insurance so If I just accidentally drooped my phone I could claim all money back or repair cost with 50GBP excess.
You can also book your hotel stays via this sites but not all chains for example You can book Hilton via Virgin but not via BA portal. Evry little points counts for extra flight redemption so be smart and If you have to buy something expensive check shopping portals.
BA shopping portal have at least 2 times per year double points promotion. Current offers You can check here www.shopping.ba.com/offers:
